GEOMETRY
Here's What You Need to Be Able To Do:
Geometry: Types of triangles
Describe parallel and perpendicular lines in plane geometric figures.
Geometry: Parallel, perpendicular, intersecting
Examine and classify quadrilaterals (including parallelograms, squares, rectangles, trapezoids, and rhombi).
Geometry: Identify planar and solid figures
Geometry: Which 2-dimensional shape is being described?
Compare and contrast the relationships among quadrilaterals.
Geometry: Similar and congruent
Students will understand fundamental solid figures.
Compare and contrast a cube and a rectangular prism in terms of the number and shape of their faces, edges, and vertices.
Geometry: Which 3-dimensional figure is being described?
Geometry: Count and compare sides, edges, faces, and vertices
Describe parallel and perpendicular lines and planes in connection with the rectangular prism.
Geometry: Identify planar and solid figures
Construct/collect models for solid geometric figures (cube, prisms, cylinder, etc.).
Geometry: Nets of 3-dimensional figures
Students will use the coordinate system.
Understand and apply ordered pairs in the first quadrant of the coordinate system.
Coordinate graphs: Relative coordinates
Locate a point in the first quadrant in the coordinate plane and name the ordered pair.
Coordinate graphs: Coordinate graphs review
Graph ordered pairs in the first quadrant.
Coordinate graphs: Coordinate graphs as maps
